Mission Statement

Who are we?

We are a newly formed NNJGS Area 44 Special Committee approved out of a motion from the Website Committee at the ACM on May 3rd, 2020.

Our primary purpose is to carry the AA message by using social media platforms to focus on supporting 12th step work by AA members in each Area 44 District. Through social media, people can connect with, learn from and further the efforts of Area 44's Standing and Special Committees, in order to carry AAs message to alcoholics and those who support recovery from alcoholism. In accordance with SMC Guidelines, activity on any social media platform will operate within the spiritual principles of the Twelve Steps, Twelve Traditions and Twelve Concepts of AA.

What is the social media committee?

The Social Media Committee is A Special Committee

A Special Committee is any Committee in the Area appointed by the Area Chairperson and agreed to by the Area Committee for a special purpose within the Area. Intergroup Delegates or the Board of Trustees of Intergroup may create a special committee to fulfill a specific function for Intergroup. It may be a permanent or time limited committee.

What we have been working on:

  • Area 44s Private & Hidden Facebook Group was launched in November 2021
  • Building our committee to bring in Liaisons and Representatives from each 12th Step Committee & District
  • Creating awareness through the Facebook group about how to connect with service and get involved with Area 44s 12th Step Committees
  • Continuing to research new ways to use social media to support Area 44's 12th Step Committees and support awareness, interest and action in AA service
